Chlorine may only be withdrawn continuously from a tank at a rate of approximately 1%, since a higher withdrawal rate would considerably reduce the pressure as a result of the temperature drop associated with the energy loss, which can cause icing on the outside. For this reason large quantities of chlorine are withdrawn from several tanks in parallel and collected in a chlorine manifold.

The PVC chlorine manifold is available for 2 to 8 cylinder connections (2 to 6 with ball valve). Unused connections can be sealed with blank caps, and the symmetrical design simplifies correct installation.

Important: the PVC chlorine manifold must not be used for pressurised chlorine gas — only in vacuum service.
