Lutz-Jesco flow meters for chlorine gas work according to the float principle: the float in the measuring tube is moved vertically by the upward-flowing chlorine gas. When flow resistance, lifting force and the weight of the float balance, the height of the float is the measure of the flow.

The scale of the measuring tube is designed as standard for chlorine gas flow under standard conditions (0.9 bar absolute at 20 °C), with a display accuracy of ±2% of the measured value. Hose clamp connections enable quick installation and fine regulation of the gas flow needs no auxiliary energy — just the setting screw.
