Rod electrodes for level monitoring and control
Rod electrodes are used in dosing systems to monitor and control filling levels. Two-rod electrodes monitor a single level; typical applications are minimum-level shut-off for centrifugal pumps (MinMin alarm) and overflow protection for tanks (MaxMax alarm).
With three-rod electrodes the filling height can be adjusted between two levels — typically controlling the level in a receiving tank via a solenoid valve or transfer pump. Rod electrodes depend on the conductivity of the liquid and cannot be used in non-conductive liquids (<10 µS/cm). In moving liquids, for example with an agitator, the metal rods must be secured to the tank wall so they are not entrained by the flow.
Key features
- 2-rod: single level monitoring (MinMin / MaxMax alarm)
- 3-rod: filling control between two levels
- Operation with a level relay
- Chemically resistant electrode materials
- Various rod lengths
Note: not suitable for liquids below 10 µS/cm or where the gas phase above the liquid has the same conductivity as the liquid.
